AMERICAN COMPANY DEPORTS OVER 3000 NIGERIAN WORKERS
An American based internet business company has deported more than 3000 Nigerian workers.
The freelancing site popularly known has FIVERR which offers more than 900 different online services to clients all over the world in the areas of writing, graphic designing, marketing, business planning and many more has been a source of employment to many Nigerians especially youths over the years.
Fiverr which was established in 2010 is currently housing about 3000 Nigerians unknowingly, according to one of the deportees a popular top rated seller on the site who doesn’t want his name mentioned said he has been on the site for over 8 years and has made about 13 million naira.
According to investigations, the developing came after the company updated their system to discover account being confirmed with different number to location appearing on their profile.
Fiverr is a dollars paying site and has become the best place for internet legit businesses especially for unemployed Nigerian youth who are in the IT industry.
During and interaction segment with a customer service representative of the company through the email, Mark, mentioned that the reason for the development is to make the site a better place for buyers to transact with the country of their choice not with those hiding their identities.
“It has come to our notice that many seller on fiverr front page are Nigerians although they are doing pretty well but we don’t want seller hiding their portfolios we wants our client to get services from their desired location in the world, those affected are not only Nigerians but anybody using VPN”
Speaking with Mr. ‘kunle yakubu’ with fiverr username as ‘kate_writers ‘ started the reasons behinds seller hiding their identities, ‘we are doing this because clients buying services on fiverr doesn’t have any trust in Nigerians they are of the opinions that we can’t do anything well we are not competent and we are fraudulent.
