The Nigeria Union Of Teachers (NUT) Ife Central branch, has appealed to the Osun State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola to pay teachers salaries.
The Ife Central NUT Chairman, Comrade Adeyemi Adelowo made this known on friday in an interview with Ife City News.
"It has been 25days now that the teachers have received renumeration, we appealled our governor to pay us in time, if possible to be paying us every 25th of every month." He said.
Adelowo said that due to the failure of the government to meet its obligation, teachers had found it difficult to cater for their families and dependants.
According to him, teachers are always at the receiving end and are often not paid their entitlements.
Also, the chairman expressed displeasure over the 21,780 teachers who failed primary four examination in Kaduna.
"Such can't happen in Osun state and south west at large. We are having much qualified and competence teachers in South West, as far as Ile Ife is concern, 90% of teachers are graduates who have graduated for more than ten years ago. Majority of teachers in Kaduna are not qualify to be a teacher".
Corroborating, the Secretary of the union, Comrade Babatunde Segun lamented over the attitude of parents to child's education.
He decried that many parents who took their children to schools especially public school do not use to see to their children performance in school.
Segun urged the parents to always visit their children's school so as to know their performances.
However, the treasurer of the union, Comrade Adegbaju Adedokun also lamented towards students performance.
He said most students do not value education again, stressing that they have prefered watching uneducative films and sports to reading books.
He however urged the students to imbibe the culture of reading and shun all immoral activities that are capable of endangering their educational career.
