UNIOSUN: THE CAMPUS FOR SACRIFICIAL LAMBS?

Going by the incessant killing of students of Osun State University in the supposed academic environment of, one would be forced to refer to an admission to study in the state owned tertiary institution as a suicide.

Aside from various kidnap cases, there are other unsung terror been unleashed on the innocent students of Uniosun by the men of Nigeria Police, Hostile neighbors among many other bad actors.

To start with, one Adebisi, a 400 Level student studying Science Education who left the Ipetu-Ijesa campus of Uniosun for Osogbo on December 22, 2016, got missing along the way only for her corpse to be found by the roadside along Ikirun/Iragbiji road on December 28.

She was said to have fallen a victim of kidnappers who were later arrested by security operatives.

The unfortunate incidence was rounded off with a protest embarked upon by some aggrieved students while the school management and the state government said they were at the top of the matter.

Saturday 21st of January, 2017, some trigger-happy men of the Nigeria Police were reported to have opened fire on one some students while playing football that Saturday morning.

That alone almost killed one Abiola Kazeem who was shot on the stomach but was later treated at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo and one other Ibrahim who was directly shot in the mouth and was later treated at the Our Lady of Fatima Hospital at Jaleyemi area of Osogbo.

It happened again on Tuesday, July4th, 2017 when the decomposing remains of another 400 Level student from Microbiology, Shonibare Timileyin was found.

Timileyin who was earlier declared missing was reported to have been a victim of kidnappers who were later arrested by the Police.

As usual, his colleagues protested violently, burning properties and structures around the site where his corpse was found. The state government and the security agents have also said they were at the top of the matter like they used to be.

Is the Aregbesola led State Government doing enough to secure the lives of Uniosun students?

Is the new VC really capable of heading a management where there shall be security for all Uniosun students?

Is the Nigeria Police really working to secure the lives of those innocent future leaders?

Has the host communities been instrumental in the security of Uniosun students?

What has the Aregbesola led state government, Labode led school management, the Police and the host community learnt from the previous killings of Uniosun students?

Should we be expecting more atrocities?
