Group Visits Ile Ife On Tourism

A group, National Association of Nigerian Comrades (NANC) on Saturday paid a tour visit to Ile Ife.
The group visited Ooni's Palace, Araba Agbaye Aworeni chamber, Oduduwa statue, Idi Aje shrine and others in it bid to know more about the culture and traditions of the ancient city.
While receiving the group at Ifa temple, the Araba Agbaye, Babalawo Aworeni Adisa, told the comrades that Ile-Ife was blessed with natural and minerals resources and endowed with tourist attractions due to his culture and traditions.

“The ancient town is one of the cities in sub-Sharan African with largest concentration of archaeological sites where both foreign and local archaeologists got objects like bronze, terracotta, precious stones and beads.”
He urged the comrades to be proud of their heritage and culture and to enlighten people about the differences between religion and culture.
According to him, foreigners love the Yoruba culture, citing Brazilians as speaking Yoruba language, while Cuba, among others, claim to be originally from Ile-Ife.
He called on government and well meaning Nigerians to collectively maintain peaceful coexistence in making Ile-Ife a tourist zone, so as to find another means of boosting the nation’s economy.
In his reaction, the NANC National President, Comrade Osuji Williams who spoke on behalf of the group appreciated the Chief priest for acknowledging their visitation.
He said that that Ile-Ife was blessed with rich culture,abundant abundant tourism sites, solid minerals and agricultural produce.
He commended the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan in reawakening the Yoruba culture, art and tradition using Ile-Ife Ife, the cradle and some of Yoruba civilisation as the spring board.
