AGAIN! OAU STUDENTS, STAFF MEMBERS WRECKS HAVOC FOR ELUJOBA
By Adewale Adetoyese
History was again made yesterday when the staff members of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife unchained the animals in them by attacking and inhumanly assaulted the Chairman of Nigerian Union of Journalism (NUJ), Ekiti State, Mr. Laolu Omosilade, his driver and even damaged the windscreen of the NUJ bus at Oke-Fia in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
An attack on an innocent journalist whose attempt was to give them a voice to reckon with in the larger society is a very condemnable act while even it bites harder to find senior lecturers and other supposed intelligent people in such an embarrassing lineage of ridicule.
So Professors joined Academic Doctors, senior and junior lecturers, gatekeepers, cleaners, security men and others to by example lecture well their students the deadly way of becoming hoodlums in the name of stealing justice for their institution’s EX-VC whom they clothed in a saint’s cloth?
What a knowledge they now impact in ‘Oba Awon University’.
Maybe that was their own version of comradeship, but it must be stated that the action of the other day at the State High Court in Ede were they went on rampage and committed all sorts of act sounds like a rape on our Judicial System.
Should we continue to call all these display of shameful an act of solidarity or sympathy for the former Acting Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Anthony Elujoba who was said to have committed financial crimes while in office?
Maybe it had started earlier, but it became obvious when the students and some staff members including their lecturers locked up the Judge and others in the court premises because they wanted a favourable remix of the verdict?
Journalists and innocent people were attacked, brutalized and assaulted by these supposed reasonable staff members and students of this institution in a broad daylight in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
Oh! You think it was the right thing when they deflated the tyres of the prison van which was supposed to lift Elujoba to prisons as remanded by the court. Yes! It sounds nice to you because it worked for them that day since the judge found no alternative than to dance to violent their Bata drum?
Man makes events, events makes history while history makes a man, the world will never forget these series of history.
We saw you when you threatened to beat up the Judge
We saw you when you locked him and other court officials up
We saw you when you were deflating the Prison van’s tyres
We saw you when you attacked journalists
We saw you when you beat and brutalized journalists
We saw you when you vandalized NUJ bus
All for Elujoba?
You really made History
We saw you
Yes, we do.
