By Sodiq Lawal
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has accused the All Progressive Congress (APC) of planning to rig the July 8 Osun West senatorial by election.
Addressing a press conference at the secretariat of the party in Osogbo, the Chairman of PDP, Mr Soji Adagunodo, said they were aware of the alleged plot by APC to manipulate the by-election.
He stated further that APC was allegedly putting pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the by- election so as to perfect the ringing. PDP also accused APC of planning to use “fake policemen” during the election and also influenced and induce some INEC officials.
“Our party is intact and we are ready for this by-election as scheduled. Those that stepped- down are fully with us and we are carrying out the campaign together,” he said.
“Some members of APC and other political parties have also joined us to ensure the victory of our candidate. So, there is no basis for shifting this election,” he added.
Reacting, spokesman of APC in the state, Mr Kunle Oyatomi, said the allegations by the PDP were biasness and without foundation.
According to Oyatomi, “Osun PDP is psychologically m tormented; those allegations are not true. They are m baseless, without foundation. APC does not need to rig any election; we urge people of the state to discountenance the allegations,” he said.
